Born and raised in the South (South Brooklyn, that is) Steve
played with Decca recording artists “The Bootleggers” (Where AM
I Going) then joined Roulette/Smash recording artists “The Lefte
Bank” (Walk Away Renee, Pretty Ballerina). He played in
Greenwich Village at all the popular and unique clubs with such
artists as Steven Stills, Mamma Cass, Joe Butler, Woody Allen,
John Sebastian and many more. After being invited, by Roulette
records, to join the band “First Crow to the Moon” (Sun Lights
Up the Shadow of Your Smile), he was then hired by Jay and the
Americans (Cara Mia, Come a Little Closer, She Cried) to record
and travel with the band.
He’s played all of the great venues from Coast to Coast. He
substituted for six months in the band “Every Mother’s Son”
(Come on Down to My Boat). Living in New York, he started doing
some studio work in Manhattan and at the start of the New
Country era in the mid 80’s, he formed the “Stonewall Band”, a
seven-piece country band that opened for such national acts as
Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Mavericks, Diamond Rio and Steve
Warner. In 1995, Stone moved to Georgia and has played with
local “Crossover Band”, “Freedom Reign” and filled in for the
drummer in the JCL Band. Stone left JCL to work with his long
time music associate and good friend Patrick Black to form
ROCKASAURUS.
